 Jean-François (French) and Nikki (English) spent two years transforming the graceful 19th-century convent into four strikingly contemporary apartments.

Arched French windows lead from terraces into open-plan salons: light airy spaces that combine minimum furnishings with maximum comfort. Sweeping tiled floors and stippled or washed walls make the most of each room’s lofty proportions while leather sofas, polished dining tables and hand-crafted chandeliers add a bold edge. Each delicate metalwork spiral stair leads to a snug mezzanine sitting room; neat kitchens are tucked into corners. Light-filled bedrooms, warm in peach and pink, have a sprinkling of choice antiques. Take a dip in the pool, pick the garden herbs, visit the coast.
